Warhammer 40k Short Story: The Tides of Daemons Part 1

He is nervous. In twenty minutes he should deploy on a Space Hulk full of daemons. He had to prove him worthy his new position. It is his first mission as a Captain. As he thinks of the honour to be the Captain of the 3th Company of the proud Desert Skull chapter, he remembers what he said to his friend Brother-Sergeant Garus. He said that he would never dream of a higher position than sergeant. But as time went on he became a veteran, then a veteran-sergeant, a lieutenant and now a Captain. Each time he ranked up, he believed he would not rank up again.
The time showed him, that he is a fool. He stop to think of his recently rank up, when the chapter master, Maroal Illunum, voxed all the Units that should be a part of the first assault on the Space Hulk, that they should make a final check on their wargear. He did as he was commanded and was satisfied that his wargear had no dust or something that would reduce its effectiveness on the battlefield. Then he asked his Company, if they were ready to purge the daemons. In the following seconds the sergeant of the squads answered one after one.
Then he voxed his chapter master that they were ready. Maroal Illunum said with a smile on his face: >> Brother-Captain Belalius your Company is slow to prepare themselves for combat. But forget that, now you need to think of leading your Company. You will lead your Company and I will lead the 1st Company. I would recommend you to be in the front, that your Company can see that your worthy your rank. Go to the deploy ships. <<
>> Hurry, go to the deploy ships. Make me proud on the battlefield! <<, those words were the last words he said to his troops before being on the Space Hulk.
